Danses Concertantes, commisioned by Ninette de Valois in 1955 was MacMilian's first major work. An early sign of the incredible artistic output that would follow, the work's critical success spurred MacMilian to abandon performing in favour of choreography.

It is followed by Different Drummer, MacMilian's complex and haunting balletic interpretation of Woyzeck, Georg Buchner's play about a solider's descent into madness.

The mixed programme concludes with Requiem, his 1976 work for Stuttgart Ballet, created in memory of its late artistic director, MacMilian's friend and former Royal Ballet dancer and choreographer John Cranko.

Out hunting, Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans. One among them transforms into the beautiful human Odette and he is immediately enamoured. But Odette is bound by a spell which keeps her captive as a swan during the day. Can Siegfried free her?

Tchaikovsky's sensational score combines with the evocative imagination of choreographer Liam Scarlett and designer John MacFarlane to heighten the dramatic pathos of Murius Petipa and Lev Ivanov's quintessential ballet classic.

Swan Lake remains to this day one of the best-loved works in the classical ballet canon.

Fish

Wednesday 19 February 2025

Standing only event
Age restricted to 14+ only and under 16s must be accompanined by an adult
FISH, the icon of progressive rock and much acclaimed artist, singer, musician, front man and lyricist extraordinaire is thrilled to announce his farewell ‘Road To The Isles’ UK tour.

Bidding a final goodbye to the music industry after four decades of hits, memories and touring, FISH will be playing thirteen celebratory and emotional shows across England and Scotland, taking in many towns and cities including his home town Haddington.

“I've been amazed at the response to the tour”, says FISH, “and the sales in the first week in Europe were phenomenal, so much so that dates had to be added to deal with the unprecedented demand.

It's a wonderful feeling to be able to take a bow on such a high and with the UK dates going on sale this week and finally closing the circle I'm sure it's going to be an emotional finale.

I don't want to be sticking to the same setlist every night and there are so many potential songs for the set we all felt that having a moveable feast was the way forward.

The setlist will be covering 12 solo albums and of course there will be material from my time with Marillion.

There's a few epics from that time that I'd be remiss if I ignored and to be honest, I'm actually looking forward to revisiting a couple of those tracks.

The band members have all played them at one time or another and are all more than capable of delivering fantastic renditions across the board.

It's going to be actually quite exciting revisiting a lot of the material with this historical line-up.
